Lee Koons founded KoonsCo in 2023 after spending a majority of his 20-year career at one of the world’s largest and most respected real estate companies, Lincoln Property Company. At Lincoln, Lee helped deliver over 1.5M square feet of mixed-use and retail product, and created the retail occupier services platform which continues to service many of the world’s most recognizable brands. KoonsCo is the continuation of those foundational service lines and relationships with the added flexibility to pursue premier projects and partnerships prioritized by core value alignment.
Lee earned a B.A. from Ole Miss, an M.S. from TX A&M Commerce and has held the CCIM designation since 2016. He is an active board member of the Clayton Dabney Foundation and President of the Johnson County Water District. He lives in Dallas with his wife, Shelby, and their two sons, Jackson and James, where they attend Highland Park Presbyterian Church.

Founder and CEO

Max Roberts joined KoonsCo in 2024 and serves as Director. Prior to KoonsCo, he worked within Lincoln Property Company's (Lincoln) commercial retail division where he focused on brokerage and development, and where he was also a member of the national distressed assets offensive team. His work at Lincoln encompassed the nation’s largest developments, institutional capital partners, publicly traded ownership groups and fortune 5 brands. He holds a B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin and resides in Dallas, Texas.

Director

As the Principal of KoonsCo’s Land & Ranch Division, Tom oversees the division’s strategic growth and specializes in land brokerage across the state of Texas. With a career spanning back to the late 1970s when he began with the Hank Dickerson Company, Tom's expertise lies in business development, deal execution, and small business operations. His journey is marked by the dynamic evolution of the Tom Koons Company (TKC), which initially started as a land brokerage firm in 1985. Over the years, TKC diversified into various sectors including technology, manufacturing, consulting, and long-haul shipping and logistics.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Tom has dedicated decades to implementing ranch and wildlife programs on his multi-generational ranch in central Texas. He is a charter member and former president of the Neils Creek Wildlife Management Association, which has expanded to encompass 24,000 acres and 150 land owners across central Texas.
Tom has served on North Dallas Bank and Trust board since 2016.

Principal – Land & Ranch Division

Payton joined KoonsCo. in 2024 and serves as Director. He grew up in Dallas, Texas, and attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, where he graduated with a B.S.B.A. in Finance, focusing on Financial Management and Investments. However, he likes to say he "majored in duck hunting and minored in finance."
Before joining KoonsCo., Payton explored various passions, including entrepreneurship and cooking. While earning his college degree, he formed a land holdings company, MJ Phillips Holdings Ltd., to honor his late grandmother, Mary Jo Phillips. This company, based in Denton County, collaborates with multinational energy companies like Exxon-Mobil and BP to extract oil and natural gas from the area.
As the demands of MJ Phillips Holdings Ltd. lessened, Payton sought to pursue another passion: cooking. He joined the team at The Meat Shop in Dallas, Texas, where he worked as a cook, refining his culinary skills and gaining valuable experience in restaurant operations.
Payton currently resides in Dallas with his wife, Kaki, and their dog, Bee.
